Instagram announced it is testing Templates, a new feature that will allow users to make Reels by borrowing formats from other posts.

According to The Verge, an early version of the feature was spotted in March 2022, when a marketing manager and influencer Josephine Hill flaunted the feature on a Twitter post.

Hill, according to The Verge, pointed out that the new feature could save users from having to rely on third-party apps like Canva and watching online tutorials to achieve a specific format.

“We are always working on new ways to make Reels simpler to create,” a Meta spokesperson said.

“We are testing the ability for you to make a reel using an existing Template from another reel,” Meta added.

Meta reportedly said that it is testing the feature at the moment with a very small group of users.

This comes after the Meta-owned platform’s relentless fight to crack down on TikTok reposts on the Reels.

“We’re building on what we’ve learned from Explore to recommend fun and entertaining videos in places like the Reels tab, and personalize the experience,” a Meta spokesperson said last year.

Narasimhan said at the time that a survey revealed that users have a less satisfied Reels experience when content is recycled from other apps or when the videos are blurry. According to reports, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri emphasised the topic of removing TikTok watermarked content on the app in a recent statement.
